Hello and welcome to our blog!
The next stop of our journey was Alamogordo, from where we started a long car drive towards the Valley of Fires in Carrizozo. This is a special place because you can see lava which came out of the ground many years ago. I had never seen how it looks like if the ground breaks and lava comes out of it. We walked through this amazing landscape on a nice path.
After that we went on to a place called: ‘Three rivers petroglyph’. We walked on a small path and could take a look at many petroglyphes, which are old signs and drawings of the Natives. It was interesting to guess what those signs could have possibly meant, but to some of them there were also some explanations on an information sheet of the Parc.
Our third stop was the Space Museum in Alamogordo. First we watched a movie that contained some basic information on the topic. After that we had a guided tour through the museum, which was very interesting. You could see the original equipment and some original machines there, which was very impressive, although I am normally not that interested in that topic. The guide also told us a lot about the history of the relationship between America and the space, which was my favorite part of the tour.
In the end of the day we went to White Sands. This was probably one of many highlights on this journey. The dunes and the landscape in gerneral were absolutely amazing. We enjoyed White Sands and also had an interesting guided tour through White Sands, which was about the animals and plants living there.
