Hey!
Today was a very interesting day-probably the most interesting one of our travel. First we went to the US Border Patrol Museum. There we walked around and informed ourselves about the history of the border and the relation between Mexicans and Americans. After that we had planned to go hiking but then we got the tip to go to the Chamizal Memorial Museum. This tip was very useful to see things from another point of view. Another point was that the museum is very near to the border. The first thing I was surprised about was that the museums were so different from museums in Germany. It is not common in Germany to tell things from only one perspective. Another thing I was surprised of was that in one country the point of view changes so much. In the Border Patrol Museum the Americans were the ones to be proud of and the Mexicans were the bad ones. In comparision the Chamizal Memorial Museum showed that they see themselves as one big country. After visiting the museums we went to the downtown of El paso. There we walked around and ate something. Then we drove to the border as near as we could. We actually stood right in front of the border. I was a bit scared because of the patrols but it was so impressive to stand in front of a thing you usually only see on TV. After visiting the border we drove to a viewing lot to get a better view from upwards. To end the day we went to a chinese all-you-can-eat buffet.
Stay tuned and read on!
