Hello and welcome back!
To travel to the USA was a big step in my life. First at all travelling to another continent was new because I have never been out of Europe before. The next thing was, that I did not know what to expect. American things are around you all the time with all the movies, the music and sometimes even the food. But I was not sure if these imaginations that I had were real. Before going to the USA I mainly thought about fastfood, huge cities and lots of electronic stuff. After the exchange I know a lot more than that. The streets and high school look like the ones in the movies and we ate a lot fast food. One thing I did not expect was the state New Mexico with all its nature. It is sad that everyone is just impressed by big cities and no one ever talks about this state. In my opinion it is very beautiful there and it was definitely worth to go there, because Tent Rocks and White Sands were my personal highlights.
In Tulsa I had a great time as well. I met so many new people and they were all very nice. It was amazing, staying with my host family . They made my trip even better and helped me to learn about the culture.
I learnt so many things. One of them were the school methods in America and compared to the ones in Germany it is more loose. They were allowed to use their phones in nearly every class which is a thing that will not happen in Germany soon. Another thing I learnt is that openess and politeness are a given thing in America. While sitting in a bus a person you do not know, would ask you how your day was. That would not happen in Germany, which is kind of sad. Sport is another big topic. It is an important part of everyday life as well. Either joining the sports team in school or going to a match- you have to do it!
The social media project we made and also the reason why we created this blog, helped me to remember myself of the things we did during the days. It is also a great possibility to look back on after some time has passed.
All in all I am very thankful for every talk I had and every experience I made. It was amazing that we were able to go with our group to get to know another culture and country. The time passed so fast and I am glad I had this oportunity. As a tip for you as readers: Use every oportunity you get to experience something new and to see other places. Our world has so many great places to go to and sometimes the nature and people are just incredible. Thank you!
