Hey and welcome back!
Our trip through New Mexico came to an end and we are now staying with our host families in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We already went to class with them and got to know the American school system a little better. Today we went to the First Baptist Church in the downtown of Tulsa and met Matt McClure who is the Minister of Students in this church. First of all I was very impressed by the building because the youth area was very well decorated and the gym there.
Matt McClure told us about his work as a youth pastor and the services and other events especially for the younger generation.
Because of the modern building, the equipment and the activities which are offered the church is very attractive. It is very smart to adapt to the change throughout the years so that the sense does not get lost. I think it is important that churches develop and adapt to new, different situations. They might even use different ways like Social Media to connect and inform their community about different events. Social Media is used by the First Baptist Church as well.
In Germany there are some churches that use Social Media but there are not as many as in America. Mabye it is because services are of higher importance in the US than in Germany.
