Hello and welcome back to our blog!
After waiting and preparing for the exchange, the journey of my classmates and me has now finally started.
The first thing I was afraid of when going to the U.S. was the long flight. As I have never been on any flight longer than a few hours it was completely new to me to sit in an airplane for such a long time, and in the end I was really tired.
But the next day I could already learn and see many things of this culture.
One main thing was that the people you meet in this country are often more open towards other people, and e.g. smalltalk plays a more important role in evereyday life.
I also realized that it is much more common to drink softdrinks here than in Germany, and the prizes for water in comparison to those of softdrinks are much higher.
We also visited a village of Native Americans in New Mexico. It was very interesting to see how they live today, what they went through throughout history and what their culture means to them.
In addition to that we went hiking in a National Parc, where there was still a lot of snow although the temperature in the city was more or less high. Those differences really impressed me.
All in all I am very impressed by this country and can’t wait to see more of it.
Thank you for reading this post!
